I was too RevelSTOKED and got injured

Hey everyone! Back in March, I was very lucky to go visit Revelstoke Resort in the southeastern parts of B.C. To be honest, I probably wouldn't have gone if it weren't for the free lift pass included in my Cypress Mountain season pass (yes I just flexed my season pass there hehehe)

March 6th, Friday.

Day 1 - The Drive

Seb and I packed our bags + snowboard gear then left early morning for Revelstoke, B.C. The drive up from Vancouver is about 6 hours with perfect weather conditions and traffic, BUT if you're passing through the Coquihalla Hwy, anything can happen.

Be prepared before your drive, have food, extra clothes, a blanket in the car, USE WINTER TIRES, battery packs...essentially ya wanna be prepared just in case you get stuck on the highway because well, it happens.

We booked this trip early February, so we wouldn't be able to find out what weather conditions were going to be like until that weekend. And my goodness, we were freaking lucky. The drive there and back was very clear.

There are a few noteworthy stops on the way, one of which is Othello Tunnels.

Othello is one of our favorite stop-overs along HWY 1, easy to get to and a popular attraction during summer. Make sure to come visit when you have the chance!

Another stop you can visit is Ladner Creek Trestle Bridge, a hidden parking spot along the HWY easy to miss without direction. Unfortunately, we didn't make it up the short trek. The path was just completely covered in deep snow so we stopped about 20 mins into the hike to take some drone shots and a little snap here and there!

We arrived around 4:30 p.m., a lot earlier than we expected. We stayed at The Sandman Hotel since our season passes gave us discounts. For about $50-70 more, we probably could have stayed next door at Best Western Plus or Ramada just down the street, a much better choice to be honest.

Our first night we check out Village Idiot for some classic pub food and some drinks. About a 25 min walk from our hotel.

We were so tired by the end of the night, we ended off the night by watching "Ready Player One" but passed out a quarter into the movie!

March 7th,

Day 2 - Snowboarding Day

The day before, we spoke with the staff at the front desk as it was our first time there.

Things that are good to know:

  • Most hotels have a shuttle bus to and from the mountain base

  • Free parking at the base

  • First lift is at 8:30 am

We stopped by Timmie's (Tim Horton's) grabbed our cuppa Joe and a breakfast wrap. The staff at the hotel said to be there before 8am because it gets really busy. I guess it wasn't exactly a busy day because there were about 10 other people there lining up with us at the lift hahaha

I don't want to fill you in too much about the snowboarding other than it being EPICLY amazing, with gorgeous views despite the clouds, POW fa days, and very short line ups. Instead I'll direct you to our vlog up on Seb's channel --> Snowboard Trip Up to Revelstoke

Oh and here are some of the pictures up at the mountain!

Sadly during the entire day of snowboarding, I was in so much pain on my left shoulder. I went off a jump and did not see the dip at the landing so I fell right onto my shoulder and gave myself a good whiplash. I now have a lovely injured rotator cuff, matching Seb's similar injury from last season LOL.

To ease up on the pain, I was treated to a SPA day at Sointula Massage and Day Spa. Girls, please treat yourself to this spa, or if you're lucky, ya man's will surprise you with a treatment!

After SPA and a long shower, it was time to head out for dinner. We chose to eat at 112 Restaurant & Lounge, about a 25 min walk from where we were staying. It's a loungy restaurant offering steaks, seafood, live music and fancy cocktails (it's why I chose it! 😆). They have great service and really good food! It is a bit more on the pricey side but worth it.

May 8th

Day 3 - Drive Home

If you want to be a little strategic like us, on the way to the Resort, we decided to skip any stopovers in the second half of the drive because we knew that we'd be driving back on the same route on the way home, plus it'd be daytime if we wanted to take any pictures :)

As always, BC offers such beautiful mountain views it's hard not to capture some of its beauty.

No matter where you are you'll manage to get in those quick shots of the surrounding mountains.

One last stop we took was at Cascade Falls in the Fraser Valley. This small gem is the perfect stopover just before heading back into the city. A possible 10-15 walk up the trail and you get to see this waterfall with a suspension bridge. Just saying, it's quite a popular spot for all the local instagramers. #CascadeFalls #PNW you'll find it.

That about sums up the weekend up at Revelstoke... Oh Revy, there's still so much to discover up in their epic mountains. I'll be sure to properly introduce you to them all the next time I visit... so long as long I don't injure myself again!
