Our "YES Theory" moment in Morocco. Sorry mom!

shocking!

Scroll to the end for TL;DR (too long; didn't read)

Traveling in a country where the dominant religion is Muslim, you're always told, as a female traveler you should at least travel with one male, dress appropriately, and of course try and respect the culture and religion to the best of your ability.

From left to right: Me, friend, sister, cousin

Well, let's just say we said "YES" to maybe something you typically should respond with a "NO", in a foreign country, in a group of 3 females, and 1 male.

this is where it begins....

On day four in the city, Nikki and our friend ended up conversing with one of the Big City Bus Tour Guides, "Ken" (actual name disclosed). We ended up exchanging contact info because he wanted to show us around the city as well. So we met up that same night at a cafe overviewing the city Mosque.

First stop: Cafe KifKif

it is now 12 am.

We walked through streets and alley's basically for 1hr with no data to map us where we were... totally put our trust in this strangers hands.

but yenno, me and nicole kept our cool and just kept asking the dude questions like:

"Where did you go to school?"

"What did you study?"

"How long have you worked this job?"

"Do you travel often?"

Second stop: Arkech Restaurant Sky Bar

Ended up at this Lounge and had Shisha (Hookah) session, pretty awesome! We got to know "Ken" a little more so it wasn't so bad. This dude is super rad actually!

it is now 1:30 am.

This is where things started to feel a little sketchy sketchy... Ken recommend we go see more night life, so he called up his friends. We again had to navigate through the streets not knowing where we were, but we were still following him anyways LOL.

We end up waiting by this curb for his friends to arrive, and then this Jeep randomly pulls up. It turns out to be two of his friends, and they're telling us to get in.

YES theory moment!

At this point we were already like, "FUCK IT" we already met up with the dude, might as well go full swing. So Nikki and our friend hop into the back seat making it a full car, leaving me and my cousin not knowing where to squeeze in.

Now now, we ain't leaving the two a lone in the Jeep and venture off without us, we all come as a package hahaha

SOOO, my cousin and I hop into the back of a strangers trunk and had them drive off to our next destination, which we had no clue where or what it was going to be.

it is now 2:00 am.

Third Stop: African Chic/Afro Chic

Ended up at this pub/bar/club type of deal place and really got to know these guys. Turns out they do this quite often when they meet tourists. They all work in the tourism industry much like Nikki and I, so by default we all were intrigued by our travel stories and experiences.

In the end we all connected with each other and made new friends in Morocco YALLL wooop woop!

......to all you patient souls who completely read the entire post, YOU DA BEST ;)

TL;DR

We basically trusted a stranger in a foreign country to lead us through a night of fun activities that only locals would do or know about. Hopped into another strangers Jeep at 2am during Ramadan, in the trunk, and drove to a night club only to find out it was closed.Went to another lounge and drank the night away. Walked back to our hostel and arrived at 3:30am. Ended up seeing our new friends the next day on our Tour Bus (they're the Tour Guides... which is how we met initially). Visited his home and made Tajine and fresh mint tea. Added each other on FB and IG, and now we frands!
