WTF DO YOU DO IN PALM SPRINGS IF YOU AIN'T GOING TO COACHELLA?

Not too much actually. However, that may actually be the beauty about it.

Most things, as my friends and I discovered are catered to a particularly silver demographic. This can go one or two ways depending on what you make of it.

We stayed at the Ace Hotel and Swim Club (Palm Springs) and it was just great, you can check our instagram to get a feel . The hotel itself is surrounded by the views of the mountains that surround the desert. The staff, nightly events and even down to the dog friendly environment truly embodied the feeling of complete wanderlust.

The pool's late hours into the early morning were some of the highlights of this weekend. You could have a night swim or soak yourself in the jacuzzi and just gaze up at the stars. Afterwards, you can relax out by the numerous fireplaces around the hotel. Our room was comfortable, clean and just made you feel like you were at home.

The reason I rave on about where you stay....happens to be a big thing while your in Palm Springs. There are tons of airbnb rentals with incredibly stunning homes if you happen to heading out there with a big group.

SOME THINGS TO DO

1) Some things to do if you are there for a couple days would be doing a day trip to Joshua Tree National Park. We woke up to catch the sunrise (which if you get the chance you should do ) only to discover the route we opted for took us to a closed gate to enter the park. We ended up having to drive to the other entrance the next day. Sometimes with rain, the area can experience flash flooding disturbing some of the roads that lead into the park. If you haven't read up on Joshua Tree National Park here are some interesting things to know:

- there are tons of walking and/or hiking routes

- famous for its giant boulders ( along the Arch Rock trail)

- you can horseback ride, go mountain biking

- the park is a rock climbing or bouldering heaven for adventure seekers

- the reason it's called Joshua Tree National Park is because the of the trees indigenous to the desert

-temperatures can easily reach over 38 C (100F)

-extremely popular for stargazing, its largely free from southern California's dense and polluted sky

2) Aerial Tramway:

It's the world's largest rotating tram car with an amazing scenic canyon ride up the Mt. San Jacinto State Park. There are restaurants above to enjoy the view as well as marked hiking trails.

3) Check out the Moorten Botanical Garden

4) Visit Palm Canyon

5) Walk down Palm Canyon Drive

All in all - A nice stopover if you'd like to relax and escape into the desert. If your'e into hiking, we're sure you would love the parks and trails around Palm Springs just be prepared for the weather and research where you are going.
